Following requests from blind readers, the Library of Congress produced Braille copies of Playboy magazine. When a (sighted) Republican Senator complained, the Senate voted to ban it. The ban was lifted after it was ruled to be in violation of First Amendment freedoms. Revelations since Hugh Hefner’s death have made it hard to defend Playboy as ‘harmless fun’, but the Constitution protects the right to offend.
