Sid Holder

This series investigates the personification of objects through form, presenting an alternative kind of body and asking the viewer to consider their own status as impermanent objects by identifying with the inanimate. In conversation with the memento mori tradition, the image attempts to capture the immediacy and sensory nature of being alive, with a focus on surface as the frontier of experience. The sculptures, act as ‘past bodies’, degrading over time and so becoming farther removed from their captured image.
