SEA CHANGE 1
This present series, entitled Sea Change, deals with issues that affect everyone, such as climate change, migration and travel. The interaction between the physical landscape and mankind is explored as a journey in my work.
The stimulus for this work is the plight of migrants struggling to escape strife in their home countries for a better life in Europe, attempting to cross the seas in very dangerous conditions. The images make reference to orange life jackets, the dark seas and threatening borders.
Dislocated people are at the mercy of politicians; the individuals have little or no control over their fate. Social media are also playing their part in the way the predicaments evolve. The exodus is gathering pace and one wonders what the future will hold.
What role does the onlooker play? No-one is exempt from responsibility. The ripple of sea change will affect us all.
