Richard Malone

rest, ghost ii (2021). Canvas, jersey, wool, cotton thread, birch ply, steel. 1.4 x 1.3 m, NFS

"rest, ghost ii" is from a series of abstract freestanding quilts that move between figuration and abstraction. The work explores gesture and form in communicating figurative poses and utilises complex ruching and patchwork techniques. The work is further exploration of Malone's themes of otherness, queerness, class and rurality, and actively plays with ideas of theatre and identity.
