We are thrilled to announce the upcoming video piece, "IYKYK (If You Know You Know)," a visually compelling and immersive video installation by Rakaya Cohen that explores the intersection of Afro-futurism and surrealist aspects through the perspective of the Black lens. The piece will run from 14th July to 17th August at Bury Museum and Art Gallery in the moving image space.

Curated to create an engaging and thought-provoking experience, "IYKYK" invites visitors to delve into the interconnectedness of memory, identity, and resilience within the Black diaspora. The work blends Afro-futuristic elements with dystopian themes, presenting a unique fusion that aligns with its title, where certain elements will resonate deeply with those in the know.

We invite you to join us for a special "Meet the Artist" event on July 13th from 2-4 PM. This exclusive event offers a unique opportunity to engage directly with the artists featured in "IYKYK (If You Know You Know)." Attendees will have the chance to discuss the inspiration behind the video installation, delve deeper into the themes of Afro-futurism and surrealism, and gain personal insights into the creative process.

The event is free, no booking required
