Each work is about corporate responsibility. In the middle of a housing crisis, the new local developments churn out ‘luxury flats’ that locals can’t afford. Often sold off-plan abroad, many are bought as assets to appreciate in value and are left empty.

In the first six months of 2022, Shell made a record-breaking profit of £17,800,000,000 equal to £98.5 million profit per day. This cost of living crisis means that many people are not able to afford to pay their energy bills and stay warm this winter.
Artist Bio
Ellie Laycock is an award-winning British artist whose photographic practice explores the urban environment and its impact on residents, ideas of power and control, politics and the passage of time. Her work often incorporates elements of historical research and, due to her original training as a fine art sculptor, the production of 3D objects, often textile based. Her work has been exhibited internationally with pieces held in the archives of the V&A Museum, The British Library and the Portuguese Center of Photography.
